Born and raised in Hollywood, Florida, Dr. Shana Capra left the states to obtain her undergraduate degree, as well as a Doctorate in Dental Surgery, at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic. After graduating, she moved back to her hometown in Florida to further her education by becoming a specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Hernandez completed a two year residency at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale as Chief Resident. Her training at Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital and Broward General Medical Center included care for special needs children, the use of oral conscious sedation, and dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia.
Being such an advocate of community dentistry, Dr. Hernandez has participated in the American Dental Association sponsored "Give Kids a Smile Day", the Special Needs Olympics, and has done mission trips to the Dominican Republic with Fundacion Monsenor Felipe Bello and other entities, along with volunteering as faculty at the Community Smiles Clinic in Miami, FL.
Dr. Hernandez is board certified and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Dental Association and the American Academy of Laser Dentistry and Asociacion Odontologica Dominicana- sede Florida.
